Highlighting Angel N. Davis, Director of EPMO, Presidio Federal
The Walter W. Walls, Jr. Humanitarian award is designed to honor individuals whose actions and words
significantly uplift the lives of their coworkers, embodying the spirit of the late Walter W. Walls Jr. — a
remarkable leader of Presidio Federal who passed away in 2022. Walter was known for his attentive ear,
warm smile, and generous heart, making meaningful connections and maintaining relationships within
our workplace. In his memory, we have created an inaugural humanitarian award to recognize team
members who, like Walter, contribute to creating a supportive and inspiring workplace.
In 2023, the unanimous winner was Angel N. Davis, our Director of EPMO. A couple of excerpts from the
nominations highlight how Angel exemplifies selflessness in leadership. A colleague shared, “She
consistently demonstrates a genuine willingness to roll up her sleeves and support her team. Every
interaction concludes with her asking, ‘What can I do to help?’ and expressing gratitude for the team’s
hard work.” Another colleague added, “Angel’s professionalism, respect, and genuine care for her
colleagues set her apart. Despite her many responsibilities, she always finds time to uplift and engage
with others, making each interaction meaningful. Her dedication to fostering genuine connections and
sincere concern for others’ well-being truly embody excellence.”
The awardee was able to provide a $5,000 donation on behalf of Presidio Federal to a charitable organization of their choice. Angel chose PM Ready, a youth-driven 501(c)3 nonprofit dedicated to empowering the younger generation with project management skills and knowledge. The donation will support PM Ready’s 2024 virtual project management summer camp program.
We recently sat down with the 2023 Walter W. Walls, Jr. Humanitarian award winner, Angel Davis, to dive into some questions. Read the Q&A below to learn more about Angel:
Q: What drives your passion for making a positive impact on others, both within our company and in your community?
A: I have a passion for wanting others to be successful – I always want to support others in their pursuits. I feel that as a leader, I have a responsibility to support others and allow them to prosper and reach their full potential.
Q: Do you believe you’ve always had high emotional intelligence or is it something you’ve gained throughout your career?
A: Likely both – I think some of it has come naturally, and other parts I’ve tuned into more over the years. With every experience is an opportunity to learn about yourself and your colleagues.
Q: What’s one hobby or interest of yours that people might be surprised to learn about?
A: I am heavily involved in women in leadership efforts – including launching a Women in Leadership (WIL) effort for NCMA Tysons Chapter and then for PMI D.C. Chapter. Both efforts have a mission to empower and provide resources/tools to women who want to excel professionally. I believe it’s imperative that regardless of the level women are at within their career, having a network and support system is essential.
